True story (no pictures)!

This morning, while I was cleaning up a little in the kitchen and Christopher was playing in the living room, I hear...

C: "Mommy, look what I have!"

me: "What is it honey?" (not looking into the living room yet)

C: "Look!"

me: (now looking and screaming) "DROP IT!!"

Christopher was holding up a baby squirrel (who was "sleeping") in his hands for me to see. Not kidding. I wish I was.

Apparently, Truman brought us a "treat" from outside, carried it in from the deck and Christopher was the first to discover it.

There was a fair amount of chaos which followed, involving me screaming a bit and scrubbing Christopher down and Brian with a shovel (we weren't sure if it was playing dead or not). Christopher seemed surprised by our reaction. Why was Mommy yelling about a little baby squirrel in the house?

Long story short, Christopher thought it was fun, Truman was very proud of himself and if that baby squirrel was playing dead, he was very, very good at it. May he rest in peace.

Our morning...

Our morning started with a special treat - donuts! - we had breakfast at a picnic bench out by Evergreen Lake.

He spent a LONG time playing in that one puddle - throwing pine cones in it, splashing in it, throwing grass in it...

The Rumples came to visit!!

Val, Luke, Caity and Clark came to visit this past week and we had a really great time! The weekend started off with a percussion lession, led by Caity...


Making chocolate chip cookies became a team effort. Each kid had to take turns stirring the batter and of course, eating the chocolate chips...

We eventually had to separate the boys, since they kept playfully "picking" on each other...

All the cousins at the park (from left to right - Caity, Clark, Christopher, Ayla and Isaiah).

We got to go to a Rockies game together...

The kids had a great time in the stands (and probably didn't watch one second of the game)...

Christopher's first cotton candy experience. He wasn't so sure about it...

Crazy hail storm we got the day before the visit ended...

One more squeeze and snuggle with the boys before it's time to head back to Indiana...

Chopsticks!

Christopher had his first real Chinese food experience tonight. He's never really been interested before. He liked the chicken lo mein and Brian and I were both really impressed with how he did with chopsticks.
First, he tried a two-handed approach...
But he quickly discovered that a one-handed approach worked better to grab the noodles.

Success!

I could get used to these things!

Still on tour...

Christopher has not lost interest in his beloved guitar. He puts on "shows" rather often and usually asks Brian to play drums while he plays guitar and sings into his "microphone." If I'm lucky, I get asked to sing along. He will occasionally throw his guitar down in excitement at the end of a "show," but Brian and I keep telling him he's just not quite famous enough for that yet.

Sandbox!

We finally put sand in Christopher's sandbox and he's been playing with it ever since. This turned out to be a good "distraction" so Brian could actually get the vegetable gardens done, despite Christopher trying very hard to help him.

And yet again today, Christopher refused to take his nap without getting to take Daddy's chapstick with him. This time, it looked like he may have actually fallen asleep while putting on just one more layer...
